About Skin Tightening
Traditional skin tightening involves excising skin and leaving long scars. Plastic surgeons have become adept at concealing them in procedures like facelifts and tummy tucks, but despite achieving dramatic results, the permanent scars that remain can be undesirable and a deal-breaker for many. Early non-surgical technologies faced numerous problems and complications due to insufficient safety measures to protect patients. However, technology has made significant progress, striving to develop the best scarless skin-tightening treatments to meet this demand. (1)
Transformative Radiofrequent Energy
Facetite/Bodytite is a skin-tightening technology that delivers reliable results using radiofrequency to tighten your skin. This innovative treatment is used for facial rejuvenation and body sculpting, specifically targeting areas with localized fat deposits and sagging skin. Also known as subdermal adipose remodeling and collagen stimulation (SARCS), Facetite/Bodytite offers patients the benefits of a non-surgical facelift and fat reduction, providing a more youthful appearance. The sheer number of safety measures that are built into the device helps us achieve safe, reliable results. (2) To protect your skin, the device measures internal skin temperature, external skin temperature, energy delivery rate, and temperature surges.
Facetite/Bodytite Benefits
- Reduction or Elimination of Lax Skin and Wrinkles: The procedure stimulates collagen production and improves skin tightness, resulting in the reduction or elimination of sagging skin and wrinkles on the neck and body.
- Dramatic Reduction of “Turkey Neck” and Banding: Facetite/Bodytite effectively targets and reduces the appearance of neck sagging and muscle banding that can reveal signs of aging.
- Correction of Double Chin: Facetite/Bodytite can address excess fat in the submental region, commonly known as a double chin, creating a more defined jawline.
- Concealed Incisions: Incisions for Facetite/Bodytite are carefully placed behind the ears or under the chin, ensuring any scarring remains discreet.
Facetite/Bodytite Candidates
Facetite/Bodytite is suitable for men and women who are bothered by sagging skin, wrinkles, excess fat, and muscle banding. Good candidates for this treatment are patients who desire a skin-tightening procedure without the long scars of a surgical procedure. The ideal candidate for this procedure is in good overall health, is a non-smoker, and has realistic expectations. In general, this technology can deliver 50-60% of what surgery can typically perform, but results will vary by patient.
Consultation for a Facetite/Bodytite
During your consultation, Dr. Lee will address any questions you have about the procedure and let you know if you are a good candidate. You will have the opportunity to discuss your cosmetic concerns and goals. Dr. Lee will carefully review your medical history and thoroughly examine the condition of your skin and targeted areas. Your fat deposits, musculature, and skin laxity will be assessed to determine the most appropriate approach. We will discuss your medical history, current medications, and expectations to create a customized plan.
Facetite/Bodytite Preparation
Before your Facetite/Bodytite procedure, you will receive detailed preoperative instructions from our team. It is important to follow these instructions diligently to ensure a smooth procedure and optimize your recovery. Some common preparations may include:
- Discontinuing blood thinners, supplements, and certain medications as instructed
- Ceasing nicotine use weeks before your surgery and remaining nicotine-free throughout your recovery
- Arranging transportation home if needed
- Adjusting work and social commitments to allow adequate time for rest
Facetite/Bodytite Procedure
Facetite/Bodytite can be used just about anywhere to tighten skin. Some areas respond better than others and it will vary depending on skin quality. The procedure requires the use of small 2 mm incisions as access points. During a Facetite/Bodytite procedure, Dr. Lee will use a local tumescent anesthetic to numb the treatment area and make a discreet incision. He will deliver the radiofrequency energy to tighten your skin and liquefy excess fat. Next, he will use liposuction to remove it for a beautiful new contour. The length of your procedure will depend on the size of the treatment area. The lower face and neck typically take 1 hour.
Facetite/Bodytite Recovery
During your recovery, you will need to limit vigorous activity and wear a compression garment for several weeks while your body heals. It is normal to experience some swelling and bruising in the initial days after treatment. To minimize postoperative swelling, we recommend keeping your head elevated when resting. Avoiding exercise is best during the first 1-2 weeks of your recovery. After three weeks, depending on your progress, you will be able to return to very light exercise. You will need to avoid sun exposure, stay hydrated, and refrain from smoking, if applicable.
Results of a Facetite/Bodytite
Once you have fully recovered from the Facetite/Bodytite procedure, you can expect to see smoother, firmer skin and enhanced contours. The results are natural-looking, and any scarring is discreetly concealed. You will have a younger appearance and a beautiful new contour that will help you fall back in love with your body. The collagen production triggered by the treatment will naturally reduce fine lines, sagging skin, and wrinkles for a younger look.
Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
Our team offers several corresponding procedures to restore your youthful appearance and help you reclaim your body. The following corresponding procedures have helped hundreds of patients look and feel their best.
Neck Liposuction
Neck liposuction is a procedure that removes excess fat from the neck, a common issue with age. As you age, stubborn fat develops that can be difficult to shift with diet or exercise. Liposuction removes excess fat discreetly so you will not need to worry about long surgical scars or recovery times.
Eyelid Rejuvenation
An eye lift (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin from the eyes for a more youthful, awake appearance. During the procedure, Dr. Lee will make a small incision to remove skin from the upper eyelids. If you are struggling with drooping skin over the upper and lower eyelids he can treat both (quad blepharoplasty) for the best results. To learn more about how eyelid rejuvenation can help you reclaim your appearance, see the blog.
